HealthCare, Inc. contracts with numerous governmental agencies in the criminal justices system. The Company is a major provider to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the Department of Parolee Services.
HCS's residential treatment program is based on the 'outcomes-based therapeutic community' model. Treatment programs include:
- addiction treatment
- life skills
- vocational training (numerous courses)
- family re-unification
These treatment modules are essential components to rebuilding the lives of men and women who re-enter the community as contributing members.
Each facility has an assigned facility director and supporting staff. All residential programs have 24/7 supervision. Most facilities have an on-site parole agent who oversees the client caseload.
Clients are restricted to the facility for approximately 30-90 days. As they progress in their recovery, they gain additional freedoms, including off-site visits provided they are accompanied by another.
On a daily basis, the clients adhere to a schedule of events that include:
- individual and group meetings
- meals
- exercise
- free-time
- special events
Clients are taken to various locations and events in the community such as parks, beaches, churches, shopping, etc. Clients prepare their own meals under dietary guidelines prepared by staff.
In addition, there are daily work assignments made to help keep the facility clean.
Each client receives course instruction in approximately 11 subjects, including:
- relapse prevention
- socialization skills
- life skills
- parenting
- anger management
In addition, the Company offers education courses necessary to attain a GED degree. For those in need, we offer basic literacy skills, such as reading and writing.
Further, the Company offers computer skills training and other vocational training courses. Upon graduation from the program, they are able to demonstrate their ability to prepare a living budget and means of employment.

Many graduate to a sober living environment (SLE) facility prior to taking on independent living arrangements. All graduates are welcomed and are encouraged to participate in the life-long aftercare program and to share their success with others still in the program. All are offered the opportunity to participate in continued counseling, if desired.
HCS is instrumental in introducing clients to available community resources to assist them in achieving their goal of independent, productive, and healthy living.
Clients are encouraged to participate in community activities and events. An important part of recovery is giving back to the community. Clients make themselves available to neighborhood and civic groups for various activities such as:
- car washes
- graffiti removal
- meals for homeless
- trash pick-up
- walk-a-thons
- charity fund-raising events
- child educational discussions
- assisting senior citizens
- and other worthwhile activities
HCS has given me the opportunity to get my life and family back, and taught me how to stay true to myself.
